Good Keywords v3: Common Problems

Here are some very common problems you may encounter while using Good Keywords v3

Note: Good Keywords was updated on April 22, 2009. This is a critical update because Google made changes to their Keyword Tool. Please make sure that you are using the current version of Good Keywords.

Unable to import CSV Files!

The Keyword Manager Tool in Good Keywords v3 and the Keyword Database Tool in SEO Lab Professional will allow you to import the CSV files from the Google keyword Tool.

To be able to use this properly, you should avoid a very common mistake while exporting the CSV file from the Google Keyword Tool.

Note: You don't need Microsoft Office to use Good Keywords v3.

Export to CSV using the right link!

As you can see from the screen shot above, clicking on the wrong export link in Google Keyword Tool can cause the CSV file to not contain the required data. Never use the export link on the right column.

I Still Have Problems Importing CSV Files!

If you are still unable to import CSV files you should manually inspect the contents of the CSV files. You can open the CSV file using Windows NotePad. A valid CSV file will look like the following.

If you are still unable to import CSV files into Good Keywords v3, please make sure that you are using the latest version of the software and then contact us.

Include the top portion of one of your CSV files in your email. You can open the CSV file in NotePad and then copy & paste it into the "description" box of the contact form.

I typed in a keyword and hit "Return". Nothing happened!

Good Keywords v3 is completely different from the earlier versions. It is possible that you saw a tutorial or screen shot of an earlier version.

Older versions of the software depended on the now defunct Overture Keyword Tool. Overture Tool is no longer available. However, almost immediately after, the Google Keyword Tool started providing search volume data. The new version of Good Keywords is for augmenting your keyword research using the Google Keyword Tool.

How To Open Google Keyword Tool Within Good Keywords Interface

Good Keywords v3 normally opens the Google Keyword Suggestion Tool in the default browser. You can make the software open it within itself. To do this, simply click on the round "Sn" icon on the top left of the software window and select the "Application Settings" menu option. Then un-check the "Open Google KWT in Browser" box.

If you have a Google Account you may want to login. This will allow you to use the Google Keyword Tool without the captcha security prompt.
