Organize and Manage Your Keywords
Keyword Manager consists of a set of lists labelled My Keyword List-A through My Keyword List-E in a tabbed interface. You can use any of these 5 lists to modify and manipulate your large keyword lists. You can also transfer keywords from one list to another.
Keyword Manager - Basics
Keyword Manager is for modifying and managing large keyword lists. Use it to remove unwanted keywords, clean unwanted characters from keywords, remove duplicates, sort, search and replace words in keyword phrases, modify keywords and generate long-tail keyword phrases.
All the the keyword tools found in Good Keywords support exporting the keywords into the Keyword manager. This option is available from the context menu (right click within the keyword set to activate the context menu).
Adding keywords to Keyword Manager
To add keywords to any of the keyword lists, simply select the corresponding tab and then use the Add ribbonbar button. You may also import keywords from a text file using the Import button.
While in the Keyword Database List tab, you can right click on the keywords generated by the Keyword Wizard and transfer keywords to any of the My Keyword Lists.
Removing unwanted keyword phrases
Usually the first step after adding keywords to the Keyword Manager is to get rid of unwanted keywords. The software includes a number of options for this (see screen shot).
You can manually delete a group of keywords by highlighting them and clicking selected button under the Remove unwanted group. The duplicate button will remove the duplicate entries from the list.
You can also remove keyword phrases based on the number of words in the phrase or based on the presence of specific terms in the phrase. For example, you can use the Contents > Words at start menu to remove all keyword phrases that start with the word screen.
Removing phrases that do not contain a specific word
To remove all keywords that do not contain a word, you will need to use the Filter option to highlight the unwanted words and then use the Remove > Selected ribbon menu to delete the phrases.
Let us say you want to remove all keywords that do not contain the word lcd. First select the Filter > Containing terms anywhere menu and type in lcd. Click OK. This will highlight all phrases that contain the word lcd. Now select Filter > Invert Selection. This will highlight all phrases that do not contain the word lcd. Now you can simply delete the highlighted phrases.
Remove unwanted characters and terms from keyword phrases
These options allow you to clean individual keyword phrases by removing select characters or terms. For example, use Clean Keywords > Substrings > At start and type in monitor to remove the word monitor from all keyword phrases.
You can also use this to remove punctuation marks or other unwanted characters from your keyword lists.
Modify Keyword Phrases
Use this ribbonbar group to sort keywords, convert between lower and upper cases, search and replace terms, append keywords at start or end, do Google match modes (exact, phrase match, etc.) and more.
You can create long-tail keywords for localized adword campaigns by appending names of cities, ZIP codes etc.
Google Adword Keyword Wrapping
You can automatically wrap keywords in the Manager for Google Adword usage (negative, phrase and exact matches) from the context menu. The keywords are wrapped and then copied to the clipboard, ready to be pasted into any other application including the Google Adword interface.
Using the Windows Clipboard
The various tools in Good Keywords (including the Keyword Manager) allow you to copy keywords into the clipboard.
The clipboard is a tool already available in Microsoft Windows and is very handy to transfer content from one application to another.
Once you copy something to the clipboard, you can paste it into another application by usually selecting the Edit > Paste menu of that application. For example, after you copy keywords from Good keywords, open the Windows notepad and select Edit > Paste from the menu. The keywords you copied to the clipboard will now appear in the Notepad window.
